GeoSaaS Energy Access
Electricity Access Planning Platform for Sustainable Development
GeoSaaS Energy Access is a comprehensive platform designed to support sustainable energy development across Africa, empowering governments, utilities, and development partners with tools for grid planning, off-grid solutions, and investment optimization.
The Challenge
Across Africa, over 600 million people lack access to electricity, posing a major barrier to economic development and quality of life. Energy planners and policymakers faced significant challenges in identifying optimal electrification strategies due to limited data, complex geographic and demographic factors, and the need to balance grid extension with decentralized renewable solutions.
Our Solution
We developed GeoSaaS Energy Access as a specialized platform combining geospatial analysis, energy modeling, and investment planning tools. The platform helps users analyze settlement patterns, estimate demand, and compare different electrification approaches (grid extension, mini-grids, and solar home systems) to develop comprehensive least-cost electrification plans.
Key Features
Grid Extension Planning
Model and optimize medium and low voltage grid networks based on population density and demand projections.
Renewable Energy Integration
Solar potential analysis, mini-grid siting, and off-grid solution targeting for remote communities.
Scenario Analysis Tools
Compare different electrification approaches with customizable parameters and constraints.
Investment Calculators
Detailed capital expenditure estimates, operational cost projections, and financial viability analysis.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Multi-user platform with role-based access control for various governmental and development partners.
Comprehensive Reporting
Generate detailed reports and visualizations for presentations, donor applications, and policy documents.
